2:2 -When was the word spoken by angels? Acts 7:53; Gal 3:19;4:14 What angels are speaking today? Rev 14:6-12

2:3 - DA 131.2 - Never can the cost of our redemption be realized until the redeemed shall stand with the Redeemer before the throne of God... that He not only became an exile from the heavenly courts, but for us took the risk of failure and eternal loss.

2:8 - Adam was given and in charge of the world and then lost it. 2 Peter 2:19

2:9 - 1SM268-270 - Satan had succeeded so well in deceiving the angels of God, and in the fall of noble Adam, that he thought that in Christ’s humiliation he should be successful in overcoming Him. He looked with pleased exultation upon the result of his temptations and the increase of sin in the continued transgression of God’s law for more than four thousand years.

-Jesus was made a little lower than the angels. When Jesus came did He have a nature before the fall of sin or after the fall of sin? Romans 8:3; 1 Peter 4:1-2; Galatians 4:4-5

-Taste death DA694.1; HP13.3; Mark 9:1 John 8:52; Rom 6:23; James 1:15; Isaiah 63:9; Hebrews 6:4-5; TMK 48; DA 700.3 Christ suffered keenly under abuse and insult. At the hands... Jesus tasted death, this death was only a taste but it was a very bitter taste. Jesus said in Matthew 26:39 "let this cup pass" He had to taste the death and bear the sins of the world.

2:10 - Con 77.1 & 78.3 Heb 5:8,9 Christ remained perfect through suffering. What is the first thing we do when we suffer? Complain. Christ is the Captain of my salvation because He was perfect through suffering. Isaiah 53:11 The One sacrifice that brings perfect salvation. Because of His suffering He is more qualified than any other being to help fallen man just where he needed help. LHU 33.7. OHC 57.3 He felt both joy and grief...

2:11- LHU 325.3-5; Christ connects us to the Father so we can say "Our Father" which is a sign of our affection for Him...they have even a more sacred relationship to God than have the angels who have never fallen.

2:12 - Quoting Psalm 22:22 Jesus also said I will confess your name before the Father. Matthew 10:32: Luke 12:8,9; Revelation 3:5; 1 John 4:15; 2 Timothy 1:8; Psalm 119:46. This is why Jesus can call you brethren and declare your name in the midst of the church

2:13 - Paul quotes two other verses from the OT. Isaiah 8:18. Those that are sanctified put their trust in Jesus and also have their families (children) with them. AH 536.1; Jeremiah 13:20 CG 561.1-3; CG 565.1-2; Our religious obligations begin in serving God faithfully is in the home....TDG 307.3

2:14 - When a child is born in this world it is born with the sinfulness of flesh and blood. Satan knew that Jesus should take fallen man’s nature so he could over power him. EW 152.2.

This verse also expresses the accomplishment of the death of Satan. FW 73.4 John 12:31-32; 16:7-11; Matthew 25:41; 2 Peter 2:4. "God so loved the world that He gave Himself in Christ to the world to bear the penalty of man’s transgression. God suffered with His Son, as the divine wing alone could suffer, in order that the world might become reconciled to Him." AG 161.5.

Not only did Christ accomplish the redemption of man and the condemnation of Satan (GC502.3), but He came to magnify the law and make it honorable. Isaiah 42:21 so we see that justice and mercy are the foundation of God’s throne Psalm 97:2; 99:4; Isaiah 16:4; Psalm 85:10

Christ did not make-believe take human nature; He did verily take it. LHU 74.4

"He might destroy him..." PP 358.1 in the final atonement, Satan shall suffer the final punishment. Philippians 2:7 PK 701.1-3 Every attack that Satan did against Christ was bruising His heel, at the same time Christ was crushing his head.

It was not bodily suffering which so quickly ended the life of Christ upon the cross. It was the crushing weight of the sins of the world, nd a sense of His Father’s wrath. 2T 209.1. Christ felt much as sinners will feel when the vials of God’s wrath shall poured out upon them. 2T 210.1

2:14-18 - As a man Christ ascended to heaven. 5BC 1126.3. His divine attributes we’re withheld from relieving His soul anguish or His bodily pains Letter 106 1896. 5BC 1124.2. As a man...as a man...as a man 5BC 1126.2

Christ has carried His humanity into eternity. 7BC 925.3
The death of a Christ bore to the death him who had power o death, and opened the gates of the tomb for all who receive Him as their personal Saviour. 7BC 925.6
Christ lived and died as a man, that He might be a God both of the living and of the dead. 7BC 926.2
To bring humanity into Christ, to bring the fallen race into oneness with divinity, is the work of redemption. Christ took human nature that men might be one with Him as He is one with the Father...7BC 927.3

2:15 - Divinity and humanity combined 1SM 408.2. There is no atonement for fallen angels UL 262.5

2:16 - This is Righteousness y Faith divinity and humanity combined FW 71.1 Christ showed humanity and divinity combined and we can also. He revealed mercy and justice 1SM 260.2. We are to put forth every energy

2:17 - There will be those that say Christ came in the nature before the fall. This verse says "in all things" what is the "in all things" ? AA 472.1. Jesus is the friend of sinners. The plan of redemption contemplates our complete recovery from the power of Satan. Christ always separates the contrite soul from sin. He came to destroy the works of the devil, and He has made provision that the Holy Spirit shall be imparted to every repentant soul, to keep him from sinning. 2 Timothy 2:19 there is no excuse for sinning. DA 311.2-3. In all things Christ was like us. So He can faithfully perform the duties of being a merciful and faithful high priest. Merciful because we know that God is acquainted with our trials and sympathizes with our griefs. DA 24.1

So the books of heaven are opened in the judgement. Their name will remain because they have repented and received forgiveness and the record of their good deeds will not be erased. FLB 212.2 Revelation 3:4,5
Christ being the Son of Man and the Son of God is perfect in each. This is why He is a faithful high priest. Christ prayed that we might be of that same nature and oneness as that existing between Himself and His Father. LHU 321.4 The prayer of Christ in John 17:20–21 is the prayer for this unity. Christ is asking His Father that we also be able to enter into all the purposes and counsels of the Father. The unity that exists between Christ and His disciples does not destroy the personality of either. They are one in purpose, in mind, in character, but not in person. It is thus that God and Christ are one. MH 422.1
He was "made like unto his brethren." OHC 57.3
The temptations of Christ, and His sufferings under them, were proportionate to His exalted, sinless character. But in every time of distress, Christ turned to His Father. 3SM 131.4-132.4
In His name, through His grace, man may be an overcomer, even as Christ was an overcomer…the only way in which man may be an overcomer is through becoming a partaker of the divine nature…SD 24.4
How do I have a living connection with God? repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. 4T 395.2-4
Exodus 28:29-30 - Christ is bearing the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the Lord. Only Christ can make a perfect atonement for our sins. Christ is the minister of the true tabernacle, the high priest of all who believe in Him as a personal Saviour and His Office no other can take. TMK 74.3 Christ offers His spotless life, His death, the censer containing the prayers, confessions, and thanksgiving of His people along with his righteousness, it it wholly acceptable and the pardon covers all transgressions.
Reconciliation means that every barrier between the soul God is removed. 1SM 395.2
David felt that God knew the struggle and anguish of the soul…he sees not in Him the heartless, vindictive spirit manifested by human agents; TM354.2

2:18 - Mark 13:33 watch and pray for he know not when the time is. This is reference to the time of the end. LHU 368

Why is it that there are so many who feel in uncertainty, who feel they are orphans? It is because they do not cultivate faith in the precious assurance that the Lord Jesus is their sin-bearer. SD 287.2 We must daily cultivate faith…
