Just some notes and verses on Hebrews

1-2- a high priest is to offer both gifts(voluntary offerings) and sacrifices(sin and trespass offerings) for sins 8:3-4; 9:9; Leviticus 9:7. In 2:17 Jesus took on humanity to know and understand human nature so He can show compassion. Jesus willingly offered Himself for sin 2:9; 10:5-6. So when He is high priest He will become a merciful and faithful high priest when He represents us before God showing compassion v2.. The divine Teacher bears with the erring...Ed 294.2-3 Jesus came to bring moral power to combine with human effort...1SM 262.1. To bring humanity into Christ to bring the fallen race into oneness with divinity, is the work of redemption. 1SM 250-251
3-4- Christ kept the level of humanity. 7BC 930.1. Phases of Christ’s priesthood. 7BC 929.1. The High Priest makes an offering for sins which ch you includes himself and the people. Lev 16:6,11,17, 29-34 but Jesus did not have to make and offering for Himself as did Aaron.
5- God was in Christ in human form, and endured all the temptations wherewith man was beset; in our behalf He participated in the suffering and trials of sorrowful human nature. (The Watchman, December 10, 1907, reprinted from The Signs of the Times January 2, 1896). 7BC 930.4. Paul quotes Psalm 2:7; Romans 9:5. Jesus did not glorify himself to become high priest. The Father and the Son have a counsel of peace Zechariah 6:12-13. Christ always does the will of the Father John 5:30, 36-38. Jesus is the Only begotten, the firstborn, He is before all things Colossians 1:15, 17. Psalm 89:26-29; John 1:14; Hebrews 1:6
6- Paul is quoting Psalm 110:4. The main thing to remember is that Christ is a high priest and also a King. Zechariah 6:12-13. Melchizedek was also a King and a priest. Genesis 14:18. This is the order after Melchizedek. Which he gets into more detail in chapter 7.
7- This continues and it is referring to Christ. God could have allowed Jesus to let the cup pass in the garden. How would the scriptures be fulfilled Matt 26:54. Why was Christ offering prayers with strong crying and tears? AG 166.3; HP 76.3-4; 78.5; 3SM 131.4; 3T 379.2-380.2
8-10- Christ had to learn obedience by the things He suffered. He loved Righteousness and hated iniquity. He became so obedient He was even obedient to death. Philippians 2:8 He endured the temptations in the wilderness. The Pharisee spying and trying to trap hm in his words. Judas betraying hm and Peter denying him. All is disciples forsaken him. He even fully trusted in his Father when He separated from Him. Therefore, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Christ is both our High Priest and King which is after the order of Melchizedek. Christ is the perfect pattern TMK 111.2-3
11–14- It looks like he is referring to Melchizedek that he wants to say some things which he will touch on in chapter 7. Help me not to be dull of hearing. Matthew 13:15-17. We are suppose to be teachers of the word. Presenting strong meat (present truth) and not to be taught again. EW 63.1. We are doing the same thing the Israelites did by having a evil heart of unbelief. So we are unskillful in the word. Because we use milk. Isaiah 28:9; 30:10-12; 1MR 33.4; Psalm 50:17; Proverbs 1:29; Jeremiah 5:31; 6:10; 1 Peter 2:2; Matthew 24:45 we must study the word and to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to full us with the love of God. God wants us to follow on to know Him. Hosea 6:3; 2 Peter 3:18 so we can discern both good and evil and chose the good by the power of the Holy Spirit.
