Hebrews 9

1-7- Paul is clearly showing that the first covenant was the sanctuary on earth. He also goes through the different parts of the sanctuary on earth. The high priest alone went into the second compartment once every year and he did not go in without blood. Because this is the blood he offers for himself and for the errors of the people. 

 

8-10- the Holy Spirit has shown that the most holy place is not yet manifest while the earthly tabernacle was still in effect. The service that was performed in the earthly sanctuary could not make him perfect or more specifically perfect his conscience. In his conscience he will still sin after the service was done. This only dealt with carnal ordinances or meats (rites or ceremonies) in the margin... until the time of Christ. Colossians 2:16; 13:9; 9:1; Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:20-22; people back in Christ day did not discerned the coming of Jesus and we are still doing the same thing today. DA 56.1. When the time of reformation has come Jesus is now our priest and He will officiate as priest and advocate in the heaven of heavens. DA 756.5-757

 

11-14- Christ is the perfect sacrifice and lived a perfect life. The blood of goats and bulls He did not use, He used is own blood to enter in the holy places of the heavenly sanctuary to obtain eternal redemption for us. Leviticus 9:15; TMK 73; EW 252-3. A heifer is a young cow and in Numbers 19:1-9, 17 explains the ceremony of the heifer. Christ represents the heifer for purification of sin. FLB 200. The blood of Christ which is much more than the blood of bulls , goats, and a heifer offered Himself without spot (fault) through the eternal Spirit (Holy Spirit) to clean our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. 

 

15-21- Because of His blood, He is the mediator of the New Testament to redeem those who had committed sin under the first (old) testament. 7:22; Ephesians 2:13-16; it gives the idea of a will. When you write a will it is not until the person who wrote the will dies that’s the benefits goes to those who are part of the will to receive the benefits. So when Christ died on the cross He promise an eternal inheritance (15) to those who receive him. The first covenant was purified without blood. Because the blood of bulls and goats should not take away sins. 10:4. For Moses spoke the law to the people Andy then sprinkle all the people saying this is the blood of the testament Exodus 24:8 and Jesus did the same thing Matthew 26:28 but upon a better testament (7:22) Moses also sanctified the sanctuary with blood.

 

22-28- almost? Why does it say almost all things are by the law purged with blood? The only items in the sanctuary that is not purged with blood is the 

laver, table of shewbread and the candlestick. How can the law be purge without blood? By obeying it, but that is too late for us because we have transgressed the law. Without blood there is no forgiveness. More specifically without the blood of Jesus we can’t be forgiven. Jesus does not need an atonement for Himself. He suffered in proportion to the sinless and exalted character which He had.1SM 106.4-107.3 when we broke the law of God it demanded the life of the transgressors. The blood represented the forfeited life of the sinner. GC 418 without the shedding of blood there is no remission (forgiveness) of sin. So Christ is entered into the true sanctuary to appear in the presence of God for us. Christ does not have to keep offering himself as the priest does every year. He enters once in the end of the world to put away sin (Isaiah 1:16-17) by the sacrifice of himself. We must put sin away by letting Christ be our only hope 1MCP 324.2. We must recognize our need for Christ HP 291.3 2 Samuel 12:13; 24:10 once we die that is it, we will be judged according to our works, whether it be good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10; Matthew 25:32; Malachi 3:16-18; 1 Timothy 4:1. Jesus bears the sins of many especially those who look to Him at his appearing. When He comes the second time, He comes without sin. Or He comes not to take away sin or to bear it again. He comes as King of Kings and Lord of Lords Revelation 19:16. He is not coming to die again for our sins. Probation would have already closed for the entire world. Daniel 12:1; Revelation 22:11; 1 Thessalonians 1:5-10
